The iPad Air / iPad 5 has the same screen size and dimensions, so the same replacement touch screen digitizer can be used for both models. The digitizer is the part of the screen that registers your touch inputs. It is made of a thin layer of glass that is bonded to a flexible circuit board. If the digitizer is cracked or broken, it will not be able to register your touches.
Here are some of the steps involved in replacing the touch screen digitizer on your iPad Air / iPad 5:
- Remove the back cover of the iPad.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Remove the old digitizer.
- Clean the LCD screen.
- Apply adhesive to the new digitizer.
- Install the new digitizer.
- Reconnect the battery.
- Put back the back cover of the iPad.
It is important to note that replacing the touch screen digitizer is a delicate procedure. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, you should take your iPad to a qualified repair technician.
